The Metropolitan museum of art

The Metropolitan Museum Of Art was a site to see. I must say this was the worst experience i had. To start with i have no car to get to New York So i had to rent one. That cost me a pretty penny but because it was for school i did it. I went on Map quest to directions because I had been there before. When we got to five avenue we realized that we could not find it. I know you must be saying but it is so big, but there is no sign that says "The Metropolitan Museum Of Art. We drove in circles for about one hour until we finally found somewhere to park and walked and asked people who directed us to the museum. By the time we got there it was 7.30pm. So when i went inside I must say it was beautiful it wa so big an there were people everywhere.

My boyfriend and I went and paid out admissions. Which i must say was pretty high twenty dollars. We proceeded up the stairs and i quickly got my camera ready. When I tried taking my first picture the security guard quickly yell "No Photographs" So i went to him and i said " I am on a school assignment there must be something i can get a picture of" He Said " I am sorry mam but there is no picture taking allowed the lady downstairs should of told you that" I was very upset because i was trying to do my assignment and i couldn't so i said well maybe we could do it in the gift shop.

When i went to the gift shop i was able to take two pictures before the same security guard that was upstairs told me that i had to leave because he had already told me that there was no photography. So i got kick out of a museum which i found very embarrassing. I took pictures of the outside so i could prove that i was there but i am very upset that i paid all that money to get there and only spent 10 mins in the museum and got to see nothing. The two pictures i took i wasn't able to even look what it was because the security guard came so quickly. Sp i can't even explain who or what the statues were about.

I enjoyed every other museum that i attended throughout this course but i must say this was the worst. I don't have alot of money, so to lose it in that matter makes me really upset. I unfortunately lost my car before the mod was over so i tried to continue to do my assignments. It is very tough for me.

The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury Connecticut. This Museum was truly an experience. This first floor was full of models of how they used to live back in the day. This city was known by the nickname of the Brass City. Throughout the time the city evolved into what it is today. They way thy portrayed this it made me feel as if I was there in those times it felt so real. I also had a chance to meet one of my classmates who happened to be there at the same time as me.

On the second floor there is an art gallery of just random and different paintings. although the first floor was my favorite I found it hard to take photos because of the way things were set up.
I choose to write about a painting of Bessie smith. This painting was done by Stella Bloch.
Bessie Smith was born on April 15,1894 and died on September 26 1937. She was known as the
Empress of the blues at that timeAfter performing in saloons and small theaters throughout the south, Bessie signed with Columbia Records and scored a major hit with the records "Down Hearted Blues" and "Gulf Coast Blues." Her more than 150 recordings that followed, some of which sold 100,000 copies in a week, propelled her to fame and immortality. She toured regularly in 1920s, particularly in vaudeville, often with such jazz greats as Louis Armstrong, Fletcher "Smack" Henderson, James P. Johnson, and Benny Goodman. Although she primarily performed to black audiences, Bessie did find popularity among whites as well. Among her other successful songs were "Jealous Hearted Blues," "Jailhouse Blues," "Cold in Hand Blues," and a version of Irving Berlin's "Alexander's Ragtime Band." Most of her songs had themes of poverty, oppression, and unrequited love, that her rich voice was perfect to deliver the mournfulness of and strike a chord in the heart of the listener.

The reason I find this particular picture to be important is because, I have done many studies in history ,and this particular time era in our lives was so interesting to me. The way she is painted you can see the happiness. She seemed to be very happy in her own skin and loved what it was that she did. Just looking at this painting you could tell that she enjoyed entertaining people. It was amazing that at the time that she was famous there was much segregation going on, yet she manage to have a white audience as well. I find this woman to be amazing and that why I choose her painting for my blog.

September 11,2001 at The New Britain Museum of American Art

The Cycle Of Terror and Tragedy: September 11,2001

My visit to the New Britain was great. It was very easy to get there, being that Ilivein new Britain. I never been there in the two years that I have lived in Connecticut,but I am glad I did because I saw so many interesting things. Each room has its very own unique style and each picture correlates with the next.

The longhallwere full with statues and great art art work.

I took many pictures because I like them all. I was amazed when I got to the second floor of the museum I saw the most beautiful picture.I knew I had to write about it.

September 11,2001 was a very tragic period in our lives. We were so affected by the things that happened on that morning. The way this picture depicts the pain and agony that we all felt losing family members to that event.

On the morning of September 11,2001 nineteen terrorist hijacked 4 commercial planes. Two of the planes each crashed into a tower of the World Trade Center in New York. The third plane hit the Pentagon,and the passengers on flight 93 attempted to take over the plane and it crashed in a small field.There were many dead. At the World Trade Center 2,602 died with 24 missing. There were 88 passengers on one plane and 59 passengers on the second plane. At the pentagon 125 died and there were 59 on the plane.Finally on flight 93 40 died. That is a total of 2,973 with 24 missing. This is very sad and it touched us all.

That painting shows the grief and the pain in Americans. The color scheme and the mood of the picture completely show what the families of these victims felt.

Showing the airplanes in the background told the story of what happened. The people on their knees showed people praying and wishing that their families and themselves would make it through the following hour. This was very tragic and this is why i decided this picture was exactly what i wanted to write about.

As you can seen i had to take three different views of the picture because it was so big.

On Saturday I visited Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut. It was conveniently located downtown, therefore very easy to get to. Finding parking was also easy. When I entered the museum I was astonished by the size and the beauty. When I entered the first room my word where "Oh God this out be fun" I thought it was going to be boring and I was going to be interested at all. The different colors and themes that each room had followed very nicely with the artwork on those walls. Once my tour began I realized that I was wrong I was very interested in the things that I was looking at.

I must say that the one particular picture really caught my attention. That picture called Offering to Love, was painted by Carle Van loo on 1761. A little biography on the painter first.
Carle was born into a family of painters but his talent put his relatives work in the shadow.
He won many medals and awards for his work. He also became a noble.

The painting I choose just caught my eye as soon as I saw it. The texture and the colors and just the whole idea behind the painting. The painting was done on canvas with oil colors. Although this painting is not one of his most recognized pieces, if you left it up to me it would be one of his greatest works. I am very much a romantic person and to see love portrayed in another type of light it was amazing.

The way I seen the piece was with women who usually appreciate love more than men just the look in their eyes in this piece shows that they are very much in love.The way the painter used the colors was incredible. In the color itself it truly showed exactly what the message in this painting was. The figures in this painting are perfectly positioned and it was just amazing to be able to see it.
